In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. TED provides the rules and guidelines, but TEDxCharlottesville is independently organized and executed. Since 2013, TEDxCharlottesvile has participated in the TEDx mission to bring awareness to the rich talent, creativity and innovation found here in Charlottesville, Virginia. Isabella Jones, Speaker Liason for Joel Fuhrman

A self proclaimed body mechanic and social scientist, Isabella has devoted the past 30 years to educating American families about the truth underlying the path towards wellness. Her programs teach people how to take care of not just their bodies, but their cognitive function, moods and memory. “Movement is nourishment for the human body as well as the brain. Joel Fuhrman, Physician

Joel Fuhrman, M.D., is a board-certified family physician, NYew York Times best-selling author and nutritional researcher who specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional and natural methods. TIPS & IDEAS TO REDUCE HOLIDAY STRESS AND REFRESH (TO GET READY) FOR THE NEW YEAR… WITHOUT LEAVING HOME

1) Take Deep, Comfortable Breaths All The Time

  • When you’re feeling bombarded by stress, immediately redirect your awareness to your breathing.
  • FREE YOUR MIND. Focus on how you are feeling. Take deep nourishing, comfortable breaths – IN AND OUT.
  • You should feel RELAXED.They should be long comfortable, sustained breaths. (DEMO BREATHING). Repeat this sustained breathing for 10 to 15 seconds. You will go from being upset to feeling CALMER.
  • As soon as it starts to feel like work, you are not breathing correctly. You don’t need to stop in your tracks and strike a pose. Try breathing this way every day – anywhere. At home, the office, in the supermarket checkout line….anywhere.
  • This will ULTIMATELY RELEASE STRESS by increasing your circulation; it will instantly cause a mood change and you will feel REFRESHED. Try it!!

2) We have breathing and stretching to de-stress…

  • One of the reasons we feel so stressed at holiday time is we are indoors a lot more, sitting for longer periods, the weather is cold – we need to get our energy up by STIMULATING & INCREASING OUR CIRCULATION.

Hi Everyone,

Your health and wellness is constantly on my mind (you are MY future) and I wanted to share some simple strategies for more energy kamagra and well being this winter.

It never stops being a priority in your day and it is 7 days a week, not one or two or three days a week.

Your HealthCare Reform

Hello My students! It’s been so great connecting with all of you this summer and if we have not connected, then write to me!!! I have seen so many of you here at Massanutten and as always, every time I see and teach you, YOU give ME joy, and inspiration. You inspire me to try to be better and to continue to study and sustain my knowledge and training, so that I can continue to be better help to you and your families. Here recently, we are consumed with the issue of the HealthCare Reforms and the legislation about that. As a health care educator, I am very, very concerned. I use a word very often when I teach you-“proactive health”-remember that? It means taking care of” business” before something bad happens…”wash your hands, brush your teeth, clean your sinus, exercise a little every day, eat well every day…”etc etc) As an American, a mom to four kids, a daughter to four elderly parents and a sister to all of you, I believe that the most important solution to the HealthCare Reform issue is this: Yes, everyone should have medical care and access to that care, no question. But we MUST take responsibility at home – and proactive health starts at home. We cannot look at HealthCare Reform as just a matter of people showing up sick and asking to be fixed. Then the vicious cycle of unnecessary testing and over medicating will start-guess who will pay for it? Lets work on reducing, if not preventing, the illness’s and disease that we know CAN be prevented and minimized with simple proactive health habits!!! We already KNOW that we can improve, if not cure diabetes with exercise and dietary changes. And the same applies to many, many other illness’s and conditions that affect our health. We must start with ourselves and then spread the news and help others. Will you help me with this important task of teaching and encouraging others to take care of their health at home? In addition to the information and video footage I have online already, I will commit to a monthly health plan for us through the website-small steps that we can easily include in our lives to feel better. You may already be there-these tips may help you help someone else. Pay it forward, share this information with others-this principle and way of life has changed my life for the better -I have had the privilege of meeting and teaching and sharing with you and have been enriched beyond measure. You teach by your healthy example -in your family, your community, your school, place of worship, place of employment. I want each and everyone of you to start today to make the little, but very important, daily changes to invest in your future. Lets strengthen this country ourselves-do you really think government will be able to “fix it’ unless we step up and do our part? I hope you have enjoyed the clips I filmed for you from South Seas Island Resort in Captiva Island, Florida. These clips give you some simple and effective moves to help you strengthen and sustain cardio strength in as little as 10 minutes a day. Get into a routine that works for you and then make it your daily habit-the body likes a schedule and we are always more successful when we have a plan. Make exercise your priority every day even if only for 10 minutes a day. Now that it is warmer-get outside! Walk, walk, walk. Ceasar, the dog whisperer, teaches people to walk their dogs as the number one behavior adjuster-it calms them mentally. We are the same-exercise calms us mentally and generates and channels energy. We also need sunshine for a source of Vitamin D, an important nutrient in the arsenal of cancer fighting immune system boosting aids. We underestimate the good old fashioned tired and true sources of good health. Sunshine, an apple a day, laugh to release stress and share love. ? This spring season we are concerned about “bugs.” Spring is usually a time for allergy issues. Pollen from the beautiful plant life around us aggravating our eyes and sinus. We

also are experiencing flu pandemic scares-(don’t panic-pandemic simply means it spreads across populations). Virus circulating via the mouth and sinus. The common element here is foreign invaders entering the body via cavities. Aggravating a response from our immune systems. The best and first strategy of protection for all and any” bugs” is to wash. For spring allergies-clean your sinus!! www.bettipot.com Wash your hair at night to keep pollen out of your pillow. Wash hands frequently-allergens are on your hands as well. Please, please, please stop taking those cold/allergy medications-they seriously affect and disrupt the normal functioning of important organs and systems like your BRAIN, endocrine systems, weight(metabolism), blood sugar (pancreas), thyroid, vascular health (neuropathy) etc. Dr. Oz (cardiovascular surgeon)and Dr. Keith Black (brain specialist) discussed the dangers of benedryl last month in regard to brain impairment. We need our brain healthy and functioning at a high level! To protect yourself against viruses-wash! Hands and sinuses as well! Don’t use the antibacterial stuff-plain soap and water for hands-luke warm, sea salt water for sinus. The virus’s and bacterium will always stay one step ahead of the meds. The antibiotics today are not the antibiotics of our youth-they are very powerful and should be used carefully as a last resort. Keep your immune system healthy with good nutrition and exercise. Lower stress- Use yoga breathing to release tension, worry anger-these emotions actually injure your immune strength! (slowly breathe in through nose and out through nose or mouth at least 10 times in a continual and relaxed fashion). There are some wonderful anti-virals that strengthen your immune system and are phyto nutrient based. Check out your local health food store-elder berry is one example. (American Indians used elderberry to treat illness). There are many others( sources of Vits C, E, B12, omega 3’s) as well. Bottom line? Everything that we need to do for ourselves helps us on every level- immediate short term and long term. Get back to basics:

  1. Eat for nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, avoid meds.
  2. Think of every day as a season.
  3. The morning is spring time-rebirth, re-growth.
  4. Start your day with nourishment exercise and nutrition-stretch to stimulate circulation,eat to sustain energy and adjust your thoughts positively-they will direct your day!
  5. The active part of your day is summer-the fruition of your garden-enjoy.
  6. Afternoon into evening is autumn… allow your self to start to wind down, slow down.
  7. Night time is winter-sleep to restore well being .
