December Newsletter

Hello my Students and Friends! I heard on the news that the incidence of cancer is on the rise! People are even more stressed than ever and our children are at risk for middle age health conditions. WE CAN PROTECT OURSELVES FROM CANCER, HEART DISEASE, DIABETES AND OTHER HEALTH ISSUES! WE CAN PROTECT OUR CHILDREN! Just follow the simple daily steps that I outline in every class, in every newsletter and in every opportunity that I have to speak and teach about health. 1. Exercise every day-at least for 10 minutes-you will sustain cardiovascular, circulatory and immune system health. Stop obsessing about size, inches, weight and start focusing on sustaining energy! Cardio-strength with balance challenges are the most effective way to sustain energy and stimulate the systems in the body and mind. I have examples of effective moves on my web site which are appropriate for every age and every level of fitness. 2. Eat for energy, immune health and well being. Stop thinking DIET and start thinking LIFE. Avoid empty calories and nourish your body/mind. Eat a well balanced diet daily-not eating will run you down! Avoid sugar-hidden and obvious! Avoid high glycemic foods and artificial ingredients – refined, processed, usually the stuff in boxes. Eat a good balanced breakfast! Try to reduce caloric intake toward the evening to help your body prepare for sleep–in other words, stop that evening snacking! 3. REDUCE YOUR STRESS!!! Yes, your ability to reduce your stress levels is in your hands! You are in charge of you-you can reduce your stress levels even in the middle of trauma and drama. Start with breathing: slowly inhale through the nose and exhale through the nose/and or mouth. Allow your concentration to focus on your breathing and let tension flow out of you with every exhalation. This is so simple but it requires practice. You can practice in your car in traffic, while shopping, or any time you may unconsciously become tense. Stress elevates many hormonal levels that ultimately harm us. INVEST IN YOUR HEALTH! GIVE THE GIFT OF HEALTH TO YOURSELF AND EVERYONE! TEACH THESE SIMPLE TECHNIQUES TO YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS, IN THE WORK PLACE AND AT SCHOOL. LET US UNDERSTAND THAT OUR HEALTH IS SOMETHING THAT WE CAN TAKE CONTROL OF.
